Dr. Kari Grenade was born and raised in Marian, St. George’s.  Her educational foundation started at the Woburn Methodist Primary School and continued in the Anglican High School and the T.A. Marryshow Community College.

She has built on her early education foundation by attaining the following academic qualifications:

1. A PhD in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University in 2011; A
2. Masters in Financial Economics from the University of Toronto in 2004; andA
3. Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Economics, with First Class Honours, from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in 2001.

Dr. Grenade has 23 years of experience in macroeconomic policy and is currently a regional macroeconomic consultant and adviser.  Prior, she served as an International Monetary Fund’s long-term macroeconomic advisor in the Ministry of Finance, Grenada for a period of seven years. She has also worked with the Caribbean Development Bank and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.

Dr. Grenade has built expertise in the areas of public finance and general macroeconomics, with a focus on economic growth and sustainable development.  Her PhD dissertation is a growth diagnostics study for Grenada.  In addition to that publication, she has published eleven journal essays and seven working papers in regional and international journals.  She also has chapters in three books. She has participated in several academic conferences held in regionally and internationally.

She served as Chairwoman of the Technical Working Group for Grenada’s National Sustainable Development Plan 2020-2035 during the period September 2018 to December 2019 and is the lead author of the Plan.  

Her hobbies are volunteering, travelling, and hiking.
